How to Post Etsy Listings to Threads
A Threads post is 500 characters, one topic tag, and a first line that has to survive being truncated in the feed. That is a different job from an Instagram caption, and it takes about four steps to get there from a listing you've already written.
The 4-step process
1Connect your Etsy shop and Threads account
Link your shop with secure OAuth access, then authorise Threads from Settings. Threads authorises through the Instagram account it's attached to, so have those login details to hand. Postivia only edits a listing when you approve a specific fix, never on its own.
2Generate the post from a listing
Pick a listing and Postivia writes two Threads posts from it: one story-led, one benefit-led. Both come back inside the 500-character limit, with the hook in the first line and at most one topic tag.
3Read it, edit it, count the characters
Both versions are editable in place, with a live character count against the 500 limit and the save blocked if you go over. Change a word, cut a sentence, or swap the photo before anything leaves the app.
4Post now or schedule it
Publish immediately, or put it in the calendar alongside your Pinterest and Instagram posts for the week. Scheduled posts show in the calendar with their status, and a failed attempt is recorded there rather than disappearing.

Do I need an Instagram account to post to Threads?
In most cases yes. A Threads profile is tied to one Instagram account, and your handle and display name come from it. Meta has been testing standalone sign-up with an email or phone number in the EU, UK and Switzerland, so some UK sellers will see that option. Otherwise create the Instagram account first, even if you never post there.
How long can a Threads post be?
500 characters. There's also a longer text attachment of up to 10,000 characters, added in September 2025, which appears as a separate expandable block and doesn't count towards the 500. The feed truncates after roughly the first line, so front-load the interesting part.
How many hashtags should I use on a Threads post?
One at most. Threads replaced hashtags with topic tags: one per post, the # symbol optional, spaces and special characters allowed. Postivia writes zero or one into each post rather than appending a block.
Should I link my Etsy listing in the post?
Usually not in the post body. Meta says links aren't deliberately downranked and Threads has since given URLs more weight in ranking, but link posts still tend to draw fewer replies, and replies are what lift a post. Keep the shop link in your bio and write the post to stand on its own.
