How Etsy fees work in the UK

Etsy doesn't take one flat cut — it's a stack of smaller fees. Here's each one, and when it applies.

    Listing fee

    $0.20 (~£0.20) per listing

Charged when you publish a listing, and again each time it renews after a sale or after four months.

    Transaction fee

    6.5%

Taken on the total the buyer pays you — item price plus the shipping you charge.

    Payment processing

    4% + £0.20

Etsy Payments' UK card-processing fee, charged once per order on the full amount.

    Regulatory operating fee

    0.48%

A small percentage Etsy charges on UK sales to cover the cost of operating in the region. Etsy raised it from 0.32% to 0.48% in June 2026.

    Offsite Ads fee

    15% (when it applies)

Only charged when a buyer reaches your listing through an ad Etsy ran off-site. Optional in the calculator above.

    VAT on fees

    20%

Etsy adds VAT to your seller fees unless you've given them a UK VAT number — so most small shops pay it.

    Etsy fees, answered

How much does Etsy take per sale in the UK?

For a typical UK sale, Etsy takes roughly 12–17% of the total once you add the 6.5% transaction fee, 4% + £0.20 payment processing, the 0.48% regulatory fee, the £0.20 listing fee, and 20% VAT on those fees. Offsite Ads add 15% on top when they apply.

Who pays for postage on Etsy?

The buyer pays you a shipping charge at checkout — that's revenue, and Etsy takes its fees on it too. You then pay the courier the actual postage separately. In the calculator, the shipping you charge is part of your revenue, while your real postage cost is a separate field, so your net profit reflects the gap between the two.

Does this Etsy fee calculator include VAT?

Yes. UK sellers are charged 20% VAT on their Etsy fees unless they've provided a VAT number, so VAT-on-fees is on by default. You can switch it off if you're VAT-registered with Etsy.

Is the Etsy fee calculator free?

Completely free, with no sign-up. Enter your price and shipping and you'll see the full fee breakdown and your net profit instantly.

Are these the exact fees Etsy will charge?

It's a close estimate based on Etsy's published UK fee schedule (last reviewed July 2026). Etsy occasionally changes its rates, and currency conversion on the listing fee can vary by a penny or two, so treat the result as a reliable guide rather than an invoice.
