How Etsy fees work in the United Kingdom

Etsy doesn't take one flat cut — it's a stack of smaller fees. Here's each one, and when it applies.

    Listing fee

    $0.20 (~£0.15) per listing

Charged when you publish a listing, and again each time it renews after a sale or after four months. Etsy sets it in dollars and converts at the market rate, so what you actually pay in GBP moves with the exchange rate — treat the converted figure as a guide.

    Transaction fee

    6.5%

Taken on the total the buyer pays you — item price plus the shipping you charge.

    Payment processing

    4% + £0.20

Etsy Payments' card-processing fee for sellers in the United Kingdom, charged once per order on the full amount. It's set by the country your bank account is in, not your buyer's.

    Regulatory operating fee

    0.48%

A small percentage Etsy charges on sales in the United Kingdom to cover the cost of operating there. Etsy raised it from 0.32% to 0.48% in June 2026.

    Offsite Ads fee

    15% (when it applies)

Only charged when a buyer reaches your listing through an ad Etsy ran off-site. Optional in the calculator above.

    VAT on fees

    20%

Etsy adds VAT to your seller fees unless you've given them a VAT number — so most small shops in the United Kingdom pay it.

    Etsy fees, answered

How much does Etsy take per sale in the United Kingdom?

For a typical sale in the United Kingdom, Etsy takes roughly 14–19% of the total once you add the 6.5% transaction fee, 4% + £0.20 payment processing, the 0.48% regulatory fee, the £0.15 listing fee, and 20% VAT on those fees. Offsite Ads add 15% on top when they apply.

Who pays for postage on Etsy?

The buyer pays you a shipping charge at checkout — that's revenue, and Etsy takes its fees on it too. You then pay the courier the actual postage separately. In the calculator, the shipping you charge is part of your revenue, while your real postage cost is a separate field, so your net profit reflects the gap between the two.

Does this Etsy fee calculator include VAT?

Yes. Sellers in the United Kingdom are charged 20% VAT on their Etsy fees unless they've provided a VAT number, so VAT-on-fees is on by default. You can switch it off if you're VAT-registered with Etsy.

Does the calculator work for sellers outside the United Kingdom?

Yes. Pick your country at the top of the calculator — it knows the exact fee schedules for the UK, the United States (3% + $0.25 processing, no VAT on fees), Türkiye (6.5% + ₺14 processing plus a 1.67% regulatory fee) and the Eurozone (4% + €0.30 processing, plus each country's regulatory operating fee where Etsy charges one). Sellers elsewhere can use the worldwide rates option, and every figure on this page updates to match.

Is the Etsy fee calculator free?

Completely free, with no sign-up. Enter your price and shipping and you'll see the full fee breakdown and your net profit instantly.

Are these the exact fees Etsy will charge?

It's a close estimate based on Etsy's published fee schedule for the United Kingdom (last reviewed August 2026). Etsy occasionally changes its rates, and currency conversion on the listing fee can vary by a penny or two, so treat the result as a reliable guide rather than an invoice.
